Galway Bay fm newsroom – There's fresh hope for a local community group who has been battling to secure funding for the restoration of Ballyglunin railway station. It follows a meeting held by the review committee at Galway Rural Development last night. An application for 200 thousand euro was first submitted to the local development company in February last year. Planned works include an upgrade and alterations to the station for conversion to visitor centre and community meeting hall. Project group spokesperson Maria Heneghan told Galway Talks that the review committe has found in its favour. She is now confident that the funding will finally be sanctioned.
