ELDERLY WOMAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION FOLLOWING INVERIN COLLISION

An elderly woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Inverin last evening.

The woman, who is in her 80s, was walking in Coill Rua, at around 5.40p.m when she was struck by a car.

Forensic Collision Investigators are at the scene today, and a section of the Spiddal to Inverin road is closed.

Gardaí say the road will not re-open for a few hours, and are advising motorists to take alternative routes.
