Efforts are continuing to add three apartments to the back of a house bordering Eglington Canal in the city. The city planning authority last month refused D. Flanagan permission to knock a shed at the back of No.56 Henry St in the city and build 3 apartments in its place. They said four homes on a site where just one currently exists would be too intense and too close to the protected canal. But D. Flanagan says in his appeal to An Bord Pleanala, that a planning officer told him the planning authority would consider a transportation levy in lieu of car parking spaces. Mr Flanagan is also arguing that his proposed development at Henry St would discourage further vandalism, provide a safer environment and promote vibrancy along Eglington Canal.
