DEVELOPER NOT GIVING UP ON ORANMORE FLOOD PLAIN

Date Published: 15-May-2008
A development company is not giving up its bid to build houses on a floodplain in Oranmore.Lackagh Group Properties Ltd has appealed to An Bord Pleanala a refusal to grant it permission to build 74 houses on the Frenchfort floodplain. Galway county council refused last month to allow Lackagh Group Properties build 74 houses on what's known as the Carrowmoneash floodplains. County planners said there were unauthorised works carried out at the site and a risk of flooding if the development went ahead. But the firm has now taken its case to An Bord Pleanala, claiming the refusal was unfair and unreasonable.
