COUNTY COUNCIL URGED TO USE TARMACADAM ON REGIONAL ROADS

Date Published: 21-Dec-2009
There's a call on the county council to reverse a decision to use tar and chips to resurface regional roads in the county. Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Galway West Deputy Eamon O'Cuiv is urging the council to use tarmacadam instead. Minister O'Cuiv says the decision to use tar and chips on the Albrack Road towards the golf course in Ballyconneely earlier this year is a case in point. The county council is today having to re-surface the road with tarmacadam after the tar and chip surface disintegrated. Minister O'Cuiv is now calling on the council to stick with tarmacadam surfaces only on county roads.
