A solution to the ongoing problem at the Carrowbrowne Halting Site can no longer be ignored, says City Councillor Catherine Connolly.

Around 30 members of the Travelling Community held a candlelit vigil outside City Hall last night in protest over conditions at the Headford Road site.

The refurbished site has yet to be officially opened but four families have been given permission to live there.

The site has no electricity, running water or flushing toilets and it's understood four other families are currently parked illegally outside.
