Connemara company’s luxurious lingerie that slims you while you sleep!

A Connemara based designer is making her mark on the luxurious lingerie market not just because they are pretty but they are also made out of materials that can help the wearer ‘slim in her sleep.’

Embrace is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment – it has already made waves on the Continent but will be available for sale in Brown Thomas from next week.

One of the reasons behind its popularity is the use of the fabric which is infused with slimming ingredients (caffeine, retinol and aloe vera) that claims to actively reduce cellulite.

The technology is Spanish and involves the presence of active micro capsules that are only released when in contact with the skin. These last for 100 washes.

The woman behind Embrace is Reenagh McCall, a Dubliner who moved to Barna from Milan, Italy in 2006 with husband, Andrea Zipoli and their two children.

Recently Embrace moved into premises on the Údarás na Gaeltachta industrial estate in Spiddal, where Reenagh is inspired by a bird’s eye view of Galway Bay and the islands beyond.

Her mother was an inventor who got one of her bra designs patented – basically a soft version of a support bra that was further developed by Reenagh when she introduced a wire version.

Reenagh worked closely with her mother before moving to Italy so knew the bra trade.

She says her own part in bra design started when she couldn’t find a nursing bra that was comfortable and decided to tackle that project as soon as she could.

However, with the launch of the brand, Embrace, she has moved away from nursing bras and all maternity lingerie. The focus now is on comfort though their nod to the forties and fifties era makes the range terribly sexy into the bargain.
