Date Published: 13-Feb-2008
Concerns over cruelty to ponies being raced on Ballyloughane Beach are to be raised at the next City Policing Committee meeting.Councillor Terry O'Flaherty says ponies are being flogged and made to run very fast along the beach and through the water. In one case an injured horse was seen being flogged and then forced to continue racing. Last Sunday it was reported that up to 14 horses and carts were at Ballyloughane beach. The activity has been reported to the GSPCA, city wardens, and the Gardai.
