Date Published: 18-Aug-2009
A major clean-up is being organised of a heavily-littered prominent city waterway. The banks of the Sandy River in between Dunnes Terryland and the Galway Shopping Centre roundabout are currently covered in cans, bottles and other dumped rubbish. It's understood short-staffing in the city council resulted in the litter not being cleaned up. City Councillor Ollie Crowe has got a guarantee from city council environment officials that the rubbish will be cleared up by the end of this week.
