An action group set up to lobby for a bypass in Claregalway four years ago is regrouping. The Claregalway Bypass Action Group are mobilising in the face of what they're describing as an intolerable situation. It emerged at this week's County council meeting that Transport Minister Noel Dempsey expects the people of Claregalway to come up with initiatives to part-fund the multi-million euro bypass. Claregalway Bypass Action Group says residents have not been given any information and no commitment has been given that work will start any time soon if at all. The action group also claims the 2008 roadworks plan published this week include nothing on the N17, despite the bypass's inclusion in the Programme for Government.
