Galway city parking bye-laws have been changed, to allow residents with chronic illness get TWO parking permits for pay and display areas.Councillor Mary Leahy says public health nurses, GPs and carers, providing house calls in Pay & Display areas, often have to worry about parking fines or being clamped. The change to the bye-laws, which was passed at last night's council meeting, will permit residents living in Pay & display areas, who suffer from chronic illness, to apply to the City Council for two parking permits. These permits will be available for use to be displayed in the car of the health care worker, or voluntary carer attending the resident concerned.
