Galway city council has confirmed it's been testing for Cryptosporidium in water supplies since 1999.It's in response to a report in today's Irish Independent claiming the water tested clear for cryptosporidium because the council didn't test for the bacteria. A spokesperson has confirmed the city's water supply was deemed safe last year even though no-one in the city could drink from the tap for five months as a precautionary measure. Figures from the Environmental Protection Agency show that the city's water met with statutory health requirements during 99 per cent of testing.
