Bargain Galway homes sell at auction for just €30,000 each

The cheapest new homes in Galway went under the hammer for the equivalent of €30,000 apiece at auction this week.
The three and four-bed semi-detached houses at the Bealach na Céartan development in Williamstown were sold to a telephone bidder at the Allsop Space in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon.
The four Co Galway properties – which were sold in one lot – had a reserve price of €98,000 and attracted two bidders before being sold for €120,000.
And in Athenry, three large detached homes in Caisleán Rí were sold to a phone bidder in one lot for €450,000 – which equates to €150,000 each. They had a reserve price of €350,000. Two of the four-bed (1,380 sq ft) homes are currently rented, for €7,800 and €7,200 per annum.
Meanwhile, at an O’Donnellan & Joyce auction next month, several multi-unit lots are set to go under the hammer, including 14 homes in a Clifden estate with an Advised Minimum Value of €750,000. That equates to less than €54,000 each.
