Almost 400k secured for Loughrea and Ballinasloe roads

Galway Bay Fm newsroom - Almost 400 thousand euro in additional funding has been sanctioned for local roads in Loughrea and Ballinasloe. The allocations were detailed at this week's meetings of the Municipal Authorities. The Ballinasloe allocation of just over 131 thousand euro will be used for surface restoration works in Derrymullen, Laurencetown and Ahascragh. A roadway in Killaan was also listed for funding but failed to progress due to an issue with a landowner. This money has been reallocated to the road project in Ahascragh. In the Loughrea district, 100 thousand euro has been ringfenced to offset costs incurred for works on the R446 between Loughrea and Craughwell. A further 164 thousand euro will be used for improvements on local roads in a number of areas including Sonnagh, Russaun and Lackabaun. The allocations are part of a funding boost of three quarters of a million euro, which has been divided between the five municipal districts.
