A delegation from the Aran Island of Inis Mor is to meet Minister Dinny McGinley today (Feb 8) to discuss concerns over the discontinuation of the ferry contract.

The government contract ceased last Thursday (Jan 31) after no tenders were received and negotiations with the existing provider failed.

The Minister of State is meeting representatives from Aran at lunchtime in the Department's offices in na Forbacha.

It says it's open to practical proposals in so far as any expenditure involved can be met from exisiting resources.

Concerns regarding the air service will also be raised and the Department says it hopes that it will be in a position to announce a decision on the matter by the end of this month.
