There is ‘uncertainty in the forecast’ after Friday with the weekend set to look a whole lot different than planned

Met Eireann has updated its forecast and is suggesting that a big weather change could come after Friday.

The National Forecaster has warned that there is some ‘uncertainty in the weather forecast’ heading into the weekend which could see another blast of stormy, wet and wild conditions after a few calm days.

It will be dry and bright on Thursday with sunny spells shining over the east of Ireland with the west set to be a lot more cloudier with outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

Temperatures of 15C will drop to single digits overnight which will leave for some chilly but clear night time weather.

Here’s how the rest of the weather forecast is looking for Friday and into the weekend:

Friday “Plenty of dry weather with some bright spells this weekend and into next week, with just some patches of rain and drizzle at times. Cloud, rain and drizzle lingering in the west and northwest overnight, but mostly dry elsewhere, with cloud and clear spells. Minimum temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees, mildest along Atlantic coasts, in light to moderate southerly breezes.”

Saturday: “The morning will continue cloudy in the northwest with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Drier elsewhere, with any mist and fog clearing to leave a mix of cloud and bright spells. The rain will gradually clear southeastwards later in the day, becoming lighter and patchier as it does so. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in light variable winds.

“A mostly dry night, as the last of the rain continues to clear southeastwards. Minimum temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, cooler further north under clearer skies, and milder further south where it will be cloudier. Some mist and fog patches developing too, in light variable breezes, veering northerly by morning.”

Sunday: “Dry and settled conditions for most on Sunday, with sunny spells developing. A cooler day with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in a light northerly breeze.”
