Date Published: 24-Jan-2013
Gardai are investigating after a man's body was recovered from the sea off the coast of Barna this afternoon.
A search was launched by the Galway RNLI Lifeboat and the Irish Coastguard Helicopter earlier today, after a man was reported missing.
The alarm was first raised by a friend of the missing man, who was last seen on Barna beach yesterday.
At around half two this afternoon, the body of a man was recovered from the sea two miles west of Barna.
His remains have been taken to Galway University Hospital for a post mortem examination.
Gardai at Salthill are investigating.
