Friend group's touching gesture to help sick Galway teenager and family

The Leaving Cert student is determined to go back to school in the New Year and finish his studies
A group of friends are doing something very special for a sick Galway teenager who is determined to get back to school for his Leaving Cert.
Chloe McCormack alongside pals Evan, Alice and Darren will take on the 30km Sea to Summit challenge to raise funds for 16-year-old Dunmore boy Eoin.
Eoin, who was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma in August, is hoping to return to complete his studies in Dunmore from January onwards though and is doing much better now according to his family.
In the hope of easing some of the financial pressure on the family, Chloe and the gang will be completing the gruelling challenge around Westport to raise funds.
Chloe said the money raised will help support Eoin and his family as well as covering school and grind costs to help him complete his Leaving Cert.
Their target of €3,000 has already been smashed with any donation big or small accepted until the challenge in November.
Chloe said: “Eoin has had a tough few months between appointments, treatment and missing school and his friends. Thankfully, he is doing well, and we want to continue to surround him and his family with as much support as possible during this challenging time.
“Cancer treatment can bring many unexpected expenses, including medical bills, travel to and from appointments, and other day-to-day costs.
“We have decided as Eoin's family and friends to complete the Westport ‘sea to summit’ this year and in doing so hope to raise some funds to help ease some of this financial pressure on him and his family, allowing them to focus on what matters most: his health, recovery and spending time together, so Eoin can return back to his normal life attending school and playing sports with his friends.”
She added: “He hopes to join his Leaving Cert class in Dunmore secondary school again in January, funds will also support his return to school, grinds, expenses etc. Every donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page would also make a huge difference.”
