Rich musical fare as Caoimnhin O Raghallaigh plays Loam show

The renowned and accomplished fiddler Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh will give a special performance in Loam Restaurant, Fairgreen Road, this Sunday, April 1.
Best known as a member of trad supergroup, The Gloaming, Caoimhín also has 15 solo recordings to his name. He has developed a distinctive ‘drone’ sound on the fiddle, but is also tuned into something traditional and melodic.
As a member of The Gloaming, Caoimhín is part of something truly exciting. His fellow members include the impeccable singer Iarla Ó Lionáird, Clare’s master fiddler Martin Hayes, guitarist Dennis Cahill, and pianist Thomas Bartlett. The band are one of the most acclaimed Irish outfits to emerge in recent years, bringing traditional music to a new level.
Their sold-out show at the 2016 Galway Arts Festival proved their appeal across the board, and the chance to see this key member in Loam’s intimate setting shouldn’t be missed. This is a performer who has graced the National Concert Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington and London’s Royal Albert Hall.
For Caoimhín’s set in Loam, the audience can expect to hear material from across his career – his first solo release was in 1999, when he was 20 years old. His show is part of Loam’s Nocturne series, which has also brought Cathy Davey and Richie Egan of Jape to the Michelin-starred restaurant.
■ Doors at 7pm, tickets €20 from 091 569727.
