Connemara Country singer Matthew O’Donnell, who released his latest single Stay All Night (Stay a Little Longer) earlier this year, will play Keane’s, Oranmore, this Saturday, August 25, with his new band.

The show will contain a mix of American Country and Country & Irish material, including waltzes, jives and foxtrots designed to get people on the dancefloor.

Stay All Night was originally recorded in 1945 by Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys. Since then, a number of American Country singers have recorded it, including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.  Now, Matthew, who has been involved in music all his life, has produced a new version.

He was just 12 years old when he decided to forge a career in entertainment and, with that in mind, he set up his own YouTube channel, Matthew O’Donnell Music. He uploaded his music videos on the channel, including some of his self-penned songs.

Matthew now has two successful albums to his credit (The Longer the Waiting and Crazy for Country), as well as several singles.  He combines his song-writing talent with an ability to recognise and dust off a classic, such as Stay All Night, giving it a new lease of life.

Having started out as a Bluegrass song with a catchy chorus, Stay All Night has all the ingredients for a jive number and that’s what it has become in Matthew’s hands.
