New name puts focus on connections

Galway Music Residency, which was set up in 2002 as the Galway Ensemble in Residence to promote music in the community, has officially rebranded as Music Connects.
Its founding ethos was that “everyone should have the right to listen to, learn about and love music”, and for more than 22 years, the organisation has worked to achieve that aim.
In 2003 the ConTempo Quartet was appointed as its Ensemble in Residence and the organisation developed a range of education and performance programmes to serve diverse audiences and under-served communities in Galway.
The new name of Music Connects reflects the group’s belief that music should be an inherent part of everyday life, reaching people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities across Galway City and County.
Music Connects will continue its pioneering residency programme that has been inspired by the power of connection.
Its new logo, echoing the Spanish Arch and the windows of St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, is designed to capture how tradition and innovation, community and creativity can be united through music.
Music Connects brings world class musicians into schools, nursing homes, community halls and public spaces.
It nurtures young talent, supports emerging artists and collaborates across art forms.
The rebrand comes with a new website, musicconnects.ie, offering people a new way to engage with the organisation’s work and discover upcoming programmes.
