Jim returns to Kenny Gallery with A Week in the West

Jim, who is originally from Tyrone, is a self-taught artist who has a reputation for being fearless with paint. For many years, the Burren was his home, physically and spiritually.

In 2008, his career was on a high with commissions and successful exhibitions, including his solo, sell-out show at The Kenny Gallery. Then, the recession came and everything changed for Jim.  In late 2014, he and his son, along with four other families, were evicted from their homes, after which he returned to Tyrone.

Seven years later he has a new family life in Tyrone and, with a new studio and art gallery, he describes a sense of ‘rebirth’ in his career.

Jim finds inspiration all around him – in a cluster of wild flowers, the bend of a boreen, a corner of a bog, a tractor, and the colours of nature.
