Jazz outfit Dinosaur for Clifden concert

One of the UK’s most creative young jazz ensembles, Dinosaur, will play Clifden Station House Theatre this Monday, February 27, as part of the Clifden Arts Festival annual programme of events for 2017.
The quartet, led by Laura Jurd, weave electric-jazz, Celtic folk melodies and north African drumming styles into a sound reminiscent of late-1960s Miles Davis.
Award-winning Jurd is a a trumpet player, composer, bandleader and BBC New Generation Artist. She been praised as “one of the strongest, most interesting new trumpet voices in jazz”.
Jurd's eclectic compositions are delivered with precision and panache by Elliot Galvin on keys, Conor Chaplin on bass and drummer Corrie Dick while she moves between trumpet and synth.
The quartet have been performing together for more than six years and the result is a cohesive sound incorporating shifting dance grooves and pulsing bass lines.
With the release of their acclaimed album ‘Together, As One’ in 2016, Dinosaur are gaining a reputation outside the UK.
