Three episodes of the popular TV series Jack Taylor will be screened on the new Irish TV channel be3 (formerly UTV Ireland), starting this Saturday, January 14, at 9pm.

This crime drama series centres on a former Garda, Jack Taylor who is veering rapidly towards middle age and is a binge drinker. Taylor, played by Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey) is a private investigator who takes on cases, no matter how hopeless, that other investigators won’t touch. Behind his short-tempered exterior, Taylor is a decent man.

Starring alongside Iain Glen are Detective Garda Kate Noonan, played by Siobhán O’Kelly (Klondike, An Bronntanas) and Darragh Noonan, played by Jack Monaghan (The Ark, Black Mirror).

The series consists of three 90-minute films which were shot on location in Galway City and Connemara last year, so local audiences should get extra enjoyment from the programmes by spotting familiar places.

The Jack Taylor series, which is based on the novels by Galway author Ken Bruen, has been broadcast in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, USA, Canada and many other territories worldwide. It will also be made available on Netflix.

Jack Taylor was produced by Spiddal-based studios Telegael, in association with ZDF Enterprises of Germany and Content Media International, USA.

The three episodes, Cross, Headstone and Purgatory, will be broadcast on be3 over three Saturday nights, starting this Saturday at 9pm. They will be repeated on Sunday nights at midnight.

The channel is available on Virgin Media Channel 106, Sky channel 116, Saorview channel 6, eVision channel 108 and Vodafone channel 110.
