Frost/Nixon for Town Hall Theatre

The 2006 play Frost/Nixon comes to the Town Hall Theatre next week, courtesy of Galway Bay FM's Ollie Turner.
He's best known as one of the most popular voices on Galway Bay, but Ollie is also a keen theatre fan and has been a regular director on the amateur drama circuit for many years.
Now, the Dunmore resident is bringing his latest project to the main stage of the City’s Town Hall Theatre from August 27-29. This dramatisation of four interviews between disgraced American President Richard Nixon and talk show host David Frost is being presented by new theatre company Cairde Mol. It’s a major undertaking, but one Ollie has been looking forward to tackling for a couple of years.
This month is the 40th anniversary of Nixon’s resignation as American president in the wake of the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal. August is also the first anniversary of David Frost’s death, explains Ollie, who feels the broadcaster’s death last year, at the age of 74, was overshadowed in Ireland by that of poet Seamus Heaney. So this is a year of milestones, he says.
