The Lunchtime with ConTempo series, hosted by Galway Music Residency, will continue next Tuesday, March 6, at 1.10pm at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Galway City. The series, entitled Beethoven – Rage & Mystery focuses on the mature quartets by the great German composer.

For next Tuesday’s concert, the ConTempo Quartet will perform Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 135. This fine work was written in October 1826 and was the last major work Beethoven completed. Only the final movement of the Quartet, op. 130, which ConTempo performed at last month’s concert, was composed later.

Op 135, Beethoven’s final complete work, was premiered in March 1828, a year after the composer’s death. It’s being performed now, 190 years later, by ConTempo Quartet for this free event.

This series continues on the first Tuesday of every month until June at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church.

■ Admission to the concerts are event is free and open to all. Early arrival is recommended. For more information, visit www. thegalwaymusicresidency.ie.
