Galway-based electro whizz-kid Daithí will be celebrating the launch of his new Tribes EP with a show in Róisín Dubh on Friday next, February 26.

Daithí is on the crest of a wave at the moment, having been nominated for the Choice Music Song of the Year for the superb Mary Keane’s Introduction. Although facing stiff competition from The Academic and All Tvvins, Daithi’s tune has a unique contribution from his 90-year-old-grandmother.

His latest EP includes the winning Love’s On Top, which features Sinéad White on vocals.

“I came across Sinead last year, and really loved how her voice had a unique 'Irish' quality to it, but at the same time felt very contemporary,” Daithí says. It was a perfect match for Love's on Top, which was a track inspired by Galway City at night, especially the West and around the Spanish Arch. This track could be considered the lead single to the Tribes EP, and it's a good snapshot of what the rest of the record is like.”

Since the start of his career, Daithí has been known as an Irish fiddle player using electronics to boost traditional Irish music into something unique and different.

Before even releasing a record, he was supporting Santigold, The XX, Macklemore and DJ Shadow on dates across the country.

Doors for the Tribes launch are 11.30 and admission is free.
