Galway poet Elaine Feeney and novelist-poet Órfhlaith Foyle will speak about their writing lives at an event in the city’s Black Gate Cultural Centre next Tuesday evening, March 6, at 8pm. Fellow writer Aoife Casby will chair the event at the Francis Street venue. Admission is free and all are welcome.

This discussion is presented by Scrutable, an initiative set up last year by writers Aoife Casby and Celeste Augé, also from Galway.

The aim is to gather four times a year at the Black Gate Cultural Centre and explore all things writing-related. Each gathering will focus on two writers who will discuss their work under the umbrella of a selected topic – anything from their favourite book, to rituals around writing and reading, to first lines. The moderator will keep the discussion flowing,   invite the writers to read from their works and take questions from the audience.

The theme for next weeks gathering is ‘Writer’s Block, Reader’s Block’ and it will be explored by Elaine Feeney and Órflaith Foyle in conjunction with Aoife and the audience.
