Declan O’Rourke for new show following Arts Festival success

Declan O’Rourke returns to play the Róisín Dubh on Saturday, August 16, following his recent successful appearance at the Dominick Street venue during the Galway International Arts Festival when he was joined by a string quartet.
It’s just over 10 years since the Dublin singer-songwriter, who has been widely acclaimed for his soulful love ballads, burst on the scene with his first album, Since Kyabram.
His debut single, Galileo (Someone like You) was subsequently covered by several artists, including Josh Groban and Eddie Reader, and has been performed by Paul Weller and Chris Rea among others.
Paul Weller cited it as the one song he wished he’d written, while Ronnie Wood, Chris Rea, John Prine and Paul Brady also fans of the singer.
Declan achieved multi-platinum sales with Since Kyabram and followed it in 2007 with Big Bad Beautiful World. His third album, Mag Pai Zai, was released in 2011.
He has performed on the same bill as Bob Dylan, opened shows for the legendary John Prine and toured with Paulo Nutini, Paul Weller, Paul Brady, and The Cardigans.
Declan O’Rourke is a charismatic performer with a keen ear for melody, and his shows are always worth going to. Doors for the concert are at 8pm, and tickets are €22.50/€20.
