ConTempo back on the road
Galway Music Residency is back on the road, following a tough 18 months.
As part of this, the ConTempo Quartet will perform a lunchtime concert in The Courthouse, Oughterard, next Monday, October 11, at 1pm. At the height of the pandemic, when live events weren’t possible, the Courthouse became a second home to ConTempo where they could rehearse and record safely and this concert is a ‘thank you’ to the Oughterard community.
On Monday, October 25, Galway Music Residency is partnering with the community organisation Coole Music to present a Bank Holiday concert in Kiltartan Church, Gort. It starts at noon.
For the event, which celebrates string ensembles, ConTempo will share the stage with two talented young groups from Coole Music; Compass Quartet and Burren Con Brio, a GMR alumni Apprentice Ensemble.
Programmes for both concerts will feature some of the most beautiful music for string quartet, from composers including Haydn, Sibelius and Dvorak. Admission is free and donations are welcome.
Registration via www.galwaymusicresidency.ie is required for Oughterard and recommended for Gort.
