The Galway Music Residency (GMR) will host a special evening on Saturday, January 27, at 7pm in NUIG’s Emily Anderson Concert Hall, presenting its current Apprentice Ensembles in concert.

The Apprentice Programme, now in its 12th year, offers emerging musical ensembles an opportunity to have mentoring sessions with Galway’s own ensemble in residence, The ConTempo Quartet, as well as giving them performing opportunities.  This year, ConTempo has been working with the Amoroso String Quartet, the baroque group, Ensemble Dagda, and cello and piano duo, Davide Forti and Francesca De Nardi.

The concert on Saturday week will allow the apprentice ensembles to showcase the results of their work with ConTempo to date.

Galway Music Residency will also launch its programme of events, from now until June, at the recital. From old favourites to curious new explorations, the Residency says there’s something for everyone in the coming months.

Refreshments will be provided at the concert. Admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. For further information, visit www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie.
