The Boeing Employees Choir from Seattle, Washington, will present a free concert of choral music in the city’s St Nicholas Collegiate Church on Saturday, September 12, at 7.30pm.

Consisting of employees and retirees of US aviation giant Boeing, the choir is undertaking its inaugural tour of Ireland and Scotland this September. The group will also perform at The Set Theatre, Kilkenny, and Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin.

The Boeing Employees Choir is conducted by Dr David Chrysler and accompanied by Boeing engineering analyst, Danete O’Neal.

The concert will also feature a performance from Galway’s award-winning choir The Marine Institute Singers.

The Boeing Employees Choir chose to tour Ireland partly because of Boeing’s history of and ongoing business with Irish companies (examples include Ryanair’s planned purchase of 520 737 Max aircraft and business relationships with Irish and many other UK companies).

Also, according to the choir’s director, David Chrysler, “We also just plain like Ireland and Scotland and among the many parts of Europe we’ve toured, the choir has never toured there”.

The choir was originally formed to help employees’ children celebrate Christmas during the bleak years of World War II. More than 72 years later it is continuing to to entertain audiences at home and around the world.

The choir currently consists of some 60 singers, who employees of Boeing, retirees and family members.  They rehearse weekly and have two concert seasons in the Seattle area.
