Students of the Access Music Project (AMP) will host their first concert of the 2015-16 year next Wednesday night, November 25.

This will take place upstairs at the city’s Crane Bar on Sea Road, and will feature AMP members performing a variety of songs across a range of genres, and playing a wide variety of instruments.

Access Music Project (AMP) is now in its 16th year. Its focused, accredited training helps performers to advance their careers in the music industry while also giving them opportunities for further education.

The award-winning programme, directed by Eilish O’Connor, has become an integral part of the west of Ireland’s music scene and a launching point for many of Galway’s finest musicians.

Many past participants have gone on to critical acclaim in Ireland and further afield.

In recent years, AMP has produced members of acts such as Grounds For Invasion (Hot Press Ones to Watch ’15), Ultan Conlon (Pure M Solo Act of 2015 Nominee), The BlueBirds, The Rye, New Pope, VOIDS, Steven Sharpe (Galway Advertiser Solo Act of 2014), Canaries and Corrosive Joseph. They and other graduates have credited their involvement with AMP as being integral to their careers.

This year’s participants contain a mix of fresh talent and seasoned veterans from the west of Ireland’s music scene. All of them will join forces for a great night of music next Wednesday. Doors are at 7.30pm, and admission is free.
