Aindrias brings lauded comedy show home

The Man from Moogaga, which was among the hit shows of the recent Vodafone Comedy Carnival, is being revived for a special show in Cong this Saturday, December 27. The show, written and performed by TV presenter and comic story-teller Aindrias de Staic, is a fantastical tale of a boy growing up in remote small-town Ireland in the 1980s, playing with friends on the local GAA team.
As the years fly by, he and his rag-tag gang of teammates take to the road, becoming part of the Irish diaspora.
This is a story full of twists and turns, with a cast of strong peculiar characters. The multi-talented Aindrias, who recently featured in the popular video of No Privatisation, a protest song about the Irish Water controversy, also provides live music for the show.
Aindrias is a man with many strings to his bow. The talented fiddle player presents TG4’s An Jig Gig, while his previous one-man theatre shows Around the World on 80 Quid and The Year I Got Younger won an array of awards.
As a result of their success, Aindrias enjoyed a season in London’s West End, in the musical Woody Sez, which won the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical in 2011.
Aindrias, who hails from Shrule in South Mayo, is billing this Cong performance as a ‘homecoming show.
The Man from Moogaga will be performed at the beautiful Lodge at Ashford Castle (formerly known as Lisloughrey Lodge) this Saturday, December 27, when special guests are expected to join him.
Tickets at €15 are available in advance from the Lodge at Ashford Castle (094 9545400) and on the door, which opens at 8.30pm.
