Tribesmen hope to add two out-of-contract players from the UK over the weekend

Sunday will see Galway United make the club’s final trip to the traditional home of Irish football as we know it when the Tribesmen take to the Dalymount Park pitch to take on Bohemians in the League of Ireland Premier Division (7.45pm).

The wrecking ball will be taken to the famous old ground at the end of the season as it is razed and rebuilt in a €65m two-year project after years of planning, and United will be hoping to go out on a high.

The game has been pushed back 48 hours because of Bohs involvement in the Europa Conference, with Alan Reynolds' side taking a 2-1 lead into last night's second-leg with Kosovan side Ballkani in Pristina. United will hope the extra game, and travel, takes its toll on Bohs, but John Caulfield warns against such thinking.

"Usually with an away game in Europe, you come home straight after the game but Bohs are staying overnight, so the players won't have any disruptions to their sleep pattern. They still have the travel and the game, but we need to focus on ourselves and be at it from the start.

"It is always tricky up there, but we have put together a run of good results in the last few weeks, have kept back-to-back clean sheets, and we need to bring that form into the game on Sunday," he said.

The summer transfer window closed on Tuesday, and while United did not announce further new additions after adding Dylan Connolly and Leigh Kavanagh to the squad earlier in the window, the club will be welcoming two new players in the coming week.

Two goalkeepers have been on trial at the club, one from England, the other from Scotland, with United set to sign one of them ahead of Sunday.

Talks are also taking place with a midfielder from England, with his contract set to have been finalised yesterday.

All three players are out of contract professionals, so they can be signed outside of the transfer window. However, international clearance will be needed as they are non-EU players, so they may not be available for Sunday's game.

One player who should be available is Stephen Walsh, who had a slight issue with his foot this week, but the United manager is confident the striker will make the match-day squad.

Kavanagh is unavailable due to the conditions of his loan deal from Bohs, but Killian Brouder is available again, having sat-out last Saturday’s draw with Waterford due to an ankle injury.

A supporters bus to Sunday's game will depart from McGinns in Woodquay at 3pm, picking up along the route. Seats can be booked by contacting Kian Kenny at 087 9404349, or Ronan Coleman at 087 6972823.
