GALWAY GAA have announced the fixtures for next weekend’s Galway Senior Football Championship quarter-finals.

Two Galway SFC quarter-finals will form part of a double header at Tuam Stadium next Saturday, September 26, with two local derbies down for decision at the venue.

Corofin face Monivea-Abbey in the opening quarter-final at 3.15pm. Gary Delaney’s side topped their group and remain unbeaten in this year’s championship, while Monivea-Abbey booked their place in the last eight after edging past Milltown in the preliminary quarter-final.

Corofin will take confidence from last year’s meeting between the sides, when they recorded a comprehensive 4-20 to 0-10 victory over Monivea-Abbey in the opening round of the Galway SFC.

Group Four winners Annaghdown then take on neighbours Claregalway in the second local derby at 5pm. Claregalway secured their quarter-final place with victory over Bearna Na Forbhacha, with goals from David Tarmey, Owen Morgan and Dara Whelan proving decisive.

The SFC relegation final between Caltra and Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir also takes place next Saturday, with Pearse Stadium hosting the contest at 5pm. The winner will retain thei senior status and the loser will be relegated to intermediate.

The remaining two SFC quarter-finals are scheduled for Pearse Stadium on Sunday, September 27. Salthill-Knocknacarra and Oughterard meet at 3.15pm. The sides also faced one another in last year’s group stages, when Salthill-Knocknacarra came out on top by six points.

The final quarter-final of the weekend sees reigning county champions Moycullen take on Mountbellew-Moylough at 5pm, in a repeat of the 2020 Galway SFC county final.
