WORK ON INIS MOR PIER TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY

Work on a 40 million euro project on Cill Rónáin Harbour in Inis Mor on the Aran Islands is to begin immediately.The contract between Galway County Council and Ascon Limited was signed at County Hall last evening [mon dec 17] Among those attending the signing were Mayor of County Galway Sean Canney and Islands Minister and Galway West TD Eamon O'CuivWhen completed the development will provide year-round shelter and much improved safe berthing facilities for all those using the harbour including local residents, fisherman and tourists.The project is due to be completed by 2010.Galway County Council Engineer Kevin Finn says during construction, they aim to keep disruption to activity on the pier to a minimum
