Met Eireann has changed its weather forecast for the weekend as summer temperatures are set to return for three days according to the forecaster.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday will all see temperatures go over the 20C mark once again but some areas will see it accompanied by rain in parts.

Thursday will be cloudy to start with outbreaks of rain for most areas which will clear throughout the morning despite scattered showers from the west.

Temperatures of 20C will hit following the clearance of rain but will drop to around 9C overnight with isolated showers hitting the northwest.

Met Eireann’s weather forecast for the weekend is as follows:

Overview: “Changeable with dry and bright days, followed in turn by wet or showery ones.”

Tomorrow: “Dry and bright for most tomorrow, with sunny spells and just the odd light shower around. Cloud will build in the west later in the evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees, with light, occasionally moderate, west to southwest breezes.”

Friday night: “Becoming blustery for most with rain developing mainly across the north and west of the country overnight, becoming more widespread by morning and turning heavy at times. Southwest winds will increase fresh and gusty with lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.”

Saturday: “Wet and blustery to start with widespread outbreaks of rain and fresh and gusty southwest winds. Drier conditions will develop in the north through the afternoon, but the rain is likely to persist in the south for much of the day. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees with southwest winds gradually easing moderate through the day.”

Saturday night: “Rain will clear from the south early on leaving a dry night for most, with isolated light showers and occasional clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees with moderate southwest winds easing light westerly or variable overnight allowing mist and fog patches to form.”

Sunday: “A dry day for most with the odd light shower around. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees with mostly light south to southwest breezes.”

Monday: “Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.”
