Over 1 thousand children are on a waiting list for the HSE eye clinic in the city that currently does not exist.

It's been confirmed to the regional health forum west that there is no clinic provided in the city, however one nursing post has been approved.

Over 600 children are waiting for an initial assessment at one doctors in Shantalla, while over 650 are on a waiting list at another doctor's clinic in the area.

Hundreds of children are also waiting for assessments and reviews at eye clinics that are provided for in Clifden, Ballinasloe, Tuam and Loughrea.
