Voting turnout in the Lisbon Treaty Referendum in Galway is averaging at about 11 percent so far, above the national average of 7 percent.Polling stations across the city and county opened around 7am and will remain open until 10 o' clock tonight. The county council and Department of Local Government is reminding the public that only Irish citizens are entitled to cast a vote in the Referendum. Calls have been flooding the County council by concerned voters who haven't received their polling cards. But the Department has told Galway Bay FM News that people don't need a polling card to vote once they're on the register and are Irish citizens. If a voter has not received a polling card they should bring valid forms of identification, such as a passport, a driving licence, or an employee or student photo identity card, to their local polling station.
