Visitor restrictions are still in place at a public ward at University Hospital Galway following a suspected outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.The HSE put the restrictions in place at St. Teresa's ward yesterday(16/12) and are advising that visitors should be limited to immediate family members.

Very young children or those with serious illness should avoid visiting the ward as they may be particularly susceptible to the bug.

Norovirus or winter vomiting bug easily spread from person to person

It can be very distressing for those affected but usually clears up within a few days and generally does not have any long term effects.
