Visiting restrictions which had been in place at University Hospital Galway because of an outbreak of the winter vomiting virus have now been lifted.

The restrictions had been in place since the 30th of November.

However, hospital management is asking people to help keep the virus out of the hospital by not visiting if they have had diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 2 days.

A statement from UHG adds that the hospital is under tremendous pressure and will be all winter, and simply can't afford to lose beds because of virus outbreaks.
