VICTIM OF RENMORE ROAD COLLISION NAMED LOCALLY

The 73 year old pedestrian who died following a road collision in the city has been named locally as Tony Wheatley.

Mr.Wheatley from Dun na Mara, Renmore had been out walking on the Renmore road when he was struck by a motorcyclist at around 6 30 last evening.

He was taken to University Hospital Galway where he died of his injuries last night.

The renmore road had been sealed off to allow for a technical examination but re-opened shortly before noon.

Gardaí are not seeking anyone in relation to the collision.

However they are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at Milstreet Garda station.
