UNIONS TO HOLD GALWAY PUBLIC MEETING ON CROKE PARK DEAL

Date Published: 18-Mar-2013
Four trade unions are to hold a public meeting in the city on Thursday to discuss the Croke Park deal.
The INMO, IMO, CPSU and Unite will all be calling for a NO vote on the deal as part of a nationwide campaign against the proposals.
The four unions argue that the proposals to extend the agreement would, if passed, unfairly penalise workers on lower incomes and women in particular.
They have six key objections which include what they say is a significant cut in pay for lower paid workers and the feared impact of freezing or delaying normal increments.
The meeting takes place in the IT building at NUIG and gets underway at 8 on Thursday evening (Mar 21).
