Two people have been taken to hospital following separate overnight road collisions.

One woman was taken to Portiuncula Hospital after she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a wall while travelling between Ballinasloe and Taughmaconnell at half past midnight.

Gardai have confirmed her injuries are not life threatening.

In a separate incident, a man was treated for minor injuries following a single vehicle collision in the Portumna area this morning.

The incident took place at around 7.30 on the N65 Loughrea to Portumna route where a van left the road due to what Gardai believe was an earlier oil spill.

The road was closed to traffic from half past seven this morning but has now been reopened.
