TUAM SECURES GARDA VAN AND PATROL CAR

There's been a boost for Garda resources in Tuam as the town has secured a garda van and a new patrol car.
That's according to Superintendent Gearoid Begley who told a Joint Policing Committee meeting with Tuam Town Council that while the town has less Garda vehicles than last year, it has sufficient to deal with any issues that may arise.
In answer to a question from Councillor Sally Ann Flanagan Superintendent Begley said that public order offences were down.
While the number of such offences can change quickly he said that action taken by the Gardai dealt effectively with public order issues that emerged in the town two years ago.
Councillor Pat O’Hora said there was a perception that there were not as many Gardai on foot patrols as in previous times.
But Superintendent Begley replied that they still had the same number of Gardai.
However, due to national restrictions introduced in April, the number of Gardai were now spread over five units instead of four.
