TRANSPORT MINISTER URGED TO INVESTIGATE CITY ROUNDABOUT SCHEME

Date Published: 08-Nov-2011
The Minister for Transport has been called on to investigate Galway City Council's handling of the scheme to replace roundabouts with signalised junctions.
Councillor Padraig Conneely has asked Leo Varadkar to request a full report on the 6 million euro scheme.
It recently emerged that the project would not be completed in time for the Volvo Ocean Race Finale next summer due to a necessary variation to the City Development Plan.
Work has already begun on replacing the Briarhill roundabout.
