STRONG LOCAL OPPOSITION TO DUNMORE NURSING HOME

Date Published: 27-Aug-2012
There's been local opposition to the construction of a nursing home in Dunmore.
Submissions have been lodged with county planners over plans to build a two storey HIQA compliant nursing home development at Dun Chaoin on Castle street.
Michael Slattery has applied for permission to construct the nursing home which involves 34 single bedrooms and en-suites and 2 double bedrooms with en-suites at Dun Chaoin at Castle street on part of the site in lieu of 7 houses.
The plans also include two secure private amenity areas for the benefit of residents and also a sensory garden store and yard area.
Several residents at Castle street, which is on the edge of Dunmore town, have objected to the plans for several reasons.
