SLIGHT RISE IN CITY UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES

Date Published: 04-Jun-2012

There's been a slight rise in unemployment figures in the city, despite a general downward trend for most county areas.

In the city, 121 more people joined the live register last month with the jobless figure now standing at 11 thousand 569.

Just over 22 thousand people are on the live register across the city and county - that's down 1 thousand 388 on the same period last year.

Unemployment figures dropped across all social welfare offices in the county in May, with the exception of Tuam where 29 people signed on.
