SECURITY ALERT AT GALWAY GARDA STATION DECLARED HOAX

This morning's security alert at Galway Garda Station has been declared a hoax.

It follows a military examination of a "suspect package" discovered at the Millstreet barracks around 9 o'clock.

An army spokesperson has confirmed to Galway Bay FM News that the army bomb disposal unit spent just one hour examining the suspect package, from 11.15 to 12.15 this afternoon.

They've declared a hoax substance was found in the package, of 'benign' nature and which was no threat to public safety.
